I have served on BART board 8 years and have introduced cost saving measures, managed to have Seismic Retrofit be one of BART's top priority, and promoted and passed BART's Strategic Plan.
Retired in 5/91, as City Traffic Engineer. Worked over 45+ years in Public Works, Transit, Transportation, and other Public positions. Experienced in planning, design, construction, and maintenance, especially in transportation and transit in last 35 years. Widely traveled reviewing Transport and Land Use of major cities in US, Canada, Japan, W. Germany, Austria, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, cities of Rome, and London and two developing countries. Written and made presentations. Considered to be one of the most qualified Transit Director by many academicians and professionals in the industry.

- National President of Institute for Transportation (IT) of American Public Works Assoc.(APWA) - 1989-90. First elected to IT's Executive Council in 1986. IT's liaison to Amer. Public Transit Assoc.(APTA); Appointed to National Task Group from IT to develop APWA's Environmental Positions and Policies 1991; Delegate on 1st Exchange Visit to Japan for U.S. Public Works Officials, jointly sponsored by the US-Japan Foundation & APWA June, 1990. Awarded - Life Membership to APWA - March 1991.

- This year, I was one of 15 selected from North America to tour some of the better transit developments in Western Europe this spring 2000.
- With my extensive experience I have been trying to have BART be more cost effective and equitable in planning, and operation.
