How many times have you been frustrated by the fact that sometimes no one on the Board of Supervisors seems to represent your views?

For example the Board just approved a needle exchange program & not one person questioned the terrible message that this sends to our children! How about after the Earth First made their outrageous charges following the "Pepper Spray" incident. Only one Supervisor supported our law enforcement officers yet the entire Eureka City Council did! The only candidate for Supervisor who publicly defended the officers was John and even though he got 180 abusive phone calls in his office in the next 10 days he did not back down!

Now most of the other candidates want to ruin the CAMP (campaign against marijuana planting) program! John wants to make it clear he supports this program. He has worked with education programs with the School Board & Inmate Welfare Fund Committee. He works with rehabilitation programs all the time but he believes strongly that we need to keep our interdiction programs as well.

John also knows that lack of proper financial planning in the past is partly to blame for our deficits of the present (yes the county is still running a huge deficit!). This has caused program cuts, employee layoffs & years without raises for many county employees. We need to start making sound financial decisions now so the problems won't continue forever.

Full harbor development will bring good jobs to Humboldt County. Development depends in part on a viable Railroad. The Board of Supervisors need to keep putting pressure on our state & federal elected officials to support efforts to get our Railroad back.

The Board needs to support wherever possible groups with ideas such as bringing the USS Sterret to Humboldt Bay. This could help our tourism industry!
