I am running as a candidate for the Board of Trustees because our kids are worth the effort!

As parents, Cheryl and I have learned that our children react and perform accoding to our interest in the things they are doing. When we, as their parents, show active concern and intense interest in the things they are learning, they do better! I am prepared to give the time and energy necessary to serve our children -- yours and mine! The reward for this service comes through the accomplishments of the children.

I respect and appreciate the service of those dedicated individuals who serve and have served before me. I would be honored to be counted among them.

I am a big-picture manager. I listen to details and am able to focus on the greater whole. While I pride myself on my creative input, I tend toward conservative implementation of new ideas in order to avoid trampling that which is good to replace it with what is new and vogue. My approach to problem solving is systematic. I enjoy the team process. Though I work hard to present my own goals and ideas, I will not sacrifice the success of the team to achieve them. Yes, I am a shrewd negotiator and work toward my objectives with quiet persistance.

I believe that the Board of Trustees needs to have parent input. I will make myself available to hear various opinions and ideas other than my own and do my best to be sure the board knows of the publics feelings. Please feel free to contact me by e-mail at cbrown@usa.com.

I bring numerous years of private sector business management experience. My decisions will be based on prudent analysis and fiscal responsibility. I will ask the hard questions and will not be satisfied with answers that indicate that "things are simply done this way." If I feel alternatives need to be explored, I will do so.

Over the next few years our district will grow considerably as a large percentage of the new home construction for our area will be concentrated within our district's boundaries. Sylvan District will be building schools. The Board of Trustees needs members who are familiar with the construction process. I know how to read complex plans and evaluate the work of the tradesmen and other professionals who will be needed to build these new schools. I understand the planning process and have participated from the very beginning as a member of the planning committee for elementary school #8.

I understand the details of the scheduling process and can help to avoid costly delays.

I do not approach this position with a political agenda. I simply want to do my best to serve the community. I will put to good use the years of education, experience, service and vision I have attained. I will listen to your ideas. Please allow me to be your voice!

Chad Brown's Vision Statements Related to Education

  • The Sylvan District needs to continue to provide competitive opportunities that will keep and attract the very best teachers, administrators, and staff members to work with our children!

  • Each student deserves every possible opportunity to achieve at his or her highest potential. That potential needs to stretch as technology advances and educational standards continue to reach upwards!

  • Safety, self worth and integrity need to be nourished and protected in every aspect of the educational process!

  • I strongly support opportunities for our children to be involved in art, music, drama and other forms of creative expression. I have been instrumental in leading the Sylvan Foundation toward funding new opportunities in these areas for all students!
