Basic services
The most important challenge I see for the new mayor and council will be addressing the question of how to advance the level of basic Metro services (schools, police, fire, etc.). While the current mayor and council have worked to raise the status and visibility of our city, little has been done beyond a band-aid approach to support and fund those services and people that are essential to the day-to-day life and well being of our community. We must find creative ways to provide adequate resources for these basic needs and services. We must come back to a point of doing first things first while giving the people of the city a voice in the decisions as to how these questions are to be answered.
