The County's plan for an airport at El Toro MCAS

By Wayne F. Rayfield

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Dana Point

This information is provided by the candidate
I am strongly opposed to the planned airport and I am the only candidate personally active in the fight against it.
I am the founder and chairperson of the El Toro Coalition. This coalition involves all of the major groups which oppose the airport and was formed so that we might work cooperatively to formulate strategies, plans and positions on various airport related issues.I am the founder of NO JETS and the co-founder of Clear the Air/NO JETS. This coalition of home owner associations was started in Dana Point and now numbers 75 associations throughout South Orange County. The coalition is active in informing its over 160,000 members about airport issues and about the non-aviation use of El Toro, The Millennium Plan, It also raises money for other volunteer groups which oppose the airport. I am a member of the Advisory Board of Taxpayers for Responsible Planning (TRP)

Dana Point is a member of ETRPA, the coalition of seven cities which oppose the airport. One of the reasons I am running for City Council is that I hope to replace Councilwoman Llareda on the ETRPA Board of Directors when her term expires with this election.
