CANDIDATE STATEMENT as in Registrar's Voter's Guide

By Nancy Padberg

Candidate for Governing Board Member; South Orange County Community College District; Trustee Area 4

RESTORE FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT AND STABILITY TO OUR DISTRICT WITHOUT RAISING TUITION OR TAXES. OPPOSE ANY AIRPORT AT EL TORO. REMOVE DISTRICT FROM STATE WATCH LIST.
Educational excellence, the hallmark of Saddleback and Irvine Valley College, is jeopardized in the South Orange County Community College District.

Our once-fine college district is in crisis. Overspending and poor fiscal management forced the district onto a state watch list and into debt. Extreme political infighting is out of control, prompting numerous lawsuits, threats against college personnel and disrupting campuses. The other trustee candidate is a long-time college district employee.

Saddleback and Irvine Valley Colleges are supported by your tax dollars. It's time to save our colleges from self-serving political strife and initiate reforms to restore stability, objectivity and respect.

Quality education is vital to quality of life. I oppose an airport at El Toro.

I received my Juris Doctor Degree from Western State University, wining two American Jurisprudence Awards. Earned M.A. and B.A., and worked as an instructor and lecturer. Attnded Saddleback College to upgrade computer skills.

Our colleges are essential community resources!

I will work hard to:

  • Support tough fiscal controls, accountability.
  • Strengthen curriculum, training, emeritus programs.
  • Maintain local control, oppose tax increases.
  • Focus on improving resources for students.

Your vote will help restore integrity to our district and colleges.

Remember this is an at large election and you can vote for all trustee areas open in this election. This means you vote for three candidates for South Orange county Community College District; ones from your own residential area and also for those candidates from areas outside your city of residence.

There are three seats open for election in Trustee Area 2 (Irvine & North), Area 4 (San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point) and Area 5 (Mission Viejo where the candidate is an unopposed incumbent).
