Airport At El Toro MCAS

In favor of establishment of international airport at the site of the current MCAS at El Toro - Against expanding air service at John Wayne Airport
For us in the City of Newport Beach this issue is often described as being one of "Noise". The unsettled question about the establishment of a commercial airport at the current El Toro MCAS is a doubled edge sword. First, it has the potential for future pressure to be applied to John Wayne Airport for a greater number of flights, and secondly the south County effort to exclude an airport shows that the community of Orange County is still divided over what it wants to be when it grows up. Opponents to an airport at the MCAS are myopic in their thinking...they still see their lives as separate from the rest of us in Orange County and appear not to be willing to meet the future with an attitude of joint participation in the fabric of Orange County.

I will oppose every effort to increase or otherwise expand commercial air service at John Wayne Airport.

I will work for the establishment of a commercial airport at El Toro MCAS. Twice the voters of Orange County have given its blessing to this goal, I think it is foolish, and wasteful spending, to continue to spend time arguing about the matter. I believe that both my local government and business experience make me the candidate who can best work with the other entities and agencies to bring a quicker resolution of the issue.
