Steven M. Sion was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. After completing his studies at Providence College, the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and the New England School of Law, he was sworn in as an attorney of law with the Rhode Island State and District of Columbia Bar Associations where his career focused in the areas of civil litigation and workers' compensation.

In 1991, Mr. Sion was admitted as an attorney in the State of California where he has concentrated his practice on the defense of employers in workers' compensation and related discrimination matters. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sion was an associate with Gilbert, Kelly, Crawley & Jennett, and Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Geraldson. After establishing a loyal client base, he began his private practice: The Law Offices of Steven M. Sion, Inc. located on the Avenue of the Stars (Century City) in June 1998. Mr. Sion has been an advocate of workers' compensation reform, meeting with legislators over the past several years to promote a change in the system to encourage a healthier business climate in the State. His practice has earned a reputation for successfully uncovering fraud in several cases, resulting in dismissals of the claims. He is a frequent speaker on workers' compensation reform and other relevant legislative matters.

Recent accomplishments include the organization of a health care forum with presentations made by Senator Sheila Kuehl and Assemblyman Keith Richman to discuss their respective bills on health care reform introduced in the 2005 legislative session.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Sion is a committed and active member of his community. He is the Chair of the Legislative Affairs Committee on the Board of Directors for the Professionals in Human Resources Association, where he has been reelected for a second consecutive term. On the political front, he volunteered for the Special Election in 2005 and serves as an Alternate on the Republican Central Committee for District 42. As a Catechist at Saint Monica's Church, he enjoys guiding fifth graders through their faith. Mr. Sion supports several worthy causes including Saint Jude's Children Hospital.

On a personal note, he is currently writing a book, "A Call to A Generation: A Vision for our Times." He resides in West Hollywood; his parents, Mary and James, in northern California (Sonoma Valley), his brother James in London; and younger brother Gregory, a decorated police officer and former member of the armed services, in Providence, Rhode Island.

Mr. Sion's family fully supports his run for State Assembly, and will be joining him in the coming weeks to actively campaign with him.
