KQED and LWVC Collaborate
The League of Women Voters of California and KQED Public Broadcasting have joined forces to provide extensive nonpartisan information to voters in time for the upcoming March 5 -- and future -- elections.
KQED offers extensive multimedia coverage of local and statewide political contests on radio, television and the Internet. Voters and visitors of SmartVoter.org and KQED.org will have a wealth of information and programming archived through KQED.
Use <smartvoter.org> to get to the contests on your ballot and you will find convenient links to KQED's archived audio of Forum and other election programs such as the
- Republican Gubernatorial Debates (Jones, Riordan and Simon),
- A discussion of Propositions 42 and 45,
- statewide contests including Governor, Secretary of State,
Treasurer, and Superintendent of Public Instruction, for example.
"We are excited to partner with KQED to provide yet another valuable service to voters," said Smart Voter project director Trudell Een. "Programs like 'Forum' and 'The California Report' have long been a well-known and objective
source of election coverage. This Web collaboration will let voters take that next step to actually hear the issues and what candidates have to say long after the live broadcast is over."
