Belmont/Redwood Shores roots and volunteerism: My wife and I first moved to Redwood Shores in 1995 and we settled in Belmont in 1998. Since the first of my two girls started in kindergarten eight years ago, I have been an active volunteer for our schools. In 2010, I was the coordinator for the "Make it Viral" portion of School-Force's "I'm In" campaign, a seminal event that doubled the amount raised for local schools. I've also volunteered in support of local school bond measures and acted as a mentor and keynote speaker for the College/Career Faire in the Sequoia Union High School District. Teaching experience: Part of what I believe makes me qualified for the position of school board trustee is my passion and experience with teaching. I've made an effort to learn what local classroom conditions are really like by substitute teaching at all grade levels (K-8) throughout our BRSSD schools. Product of CA public schools (PhD UCLA): I am a proud product of the California public school system, having attended public elementary, middle and high schools in San Diego, and I graduated from California universities with undergraduate (UC Berkeley), and post-graduate (Ph.D. Molecular Biology, UCLA) degrees. I am currently the Group Product Manager for Software and UI at a medical device company. I feel that the combination of analytical skills, local volunteerism, and teaching experience make me uniquely qualified as a candidate for trustee. I would be honored to have your vote for BRSSD board trustee. |
