I will fight to see that Eastside residents receive the services their tax dollars are paying for to address specific issues like trash dumping, graffiti removal, improved street lighting, and work to improve community policing to address illegal parking, speeding, and homelessness.I will fight to see that Eastside residents receive the services their tax dollars are paying for to address specific issues like trash dumping, graffiti removal, improved street lighting, and work to improve community policing to address illegal parking, speeding, and homelessness. In order to make public safety a reality, my job as a City Council member is to prioritize specific projects and initiatives with funding and resources to achieve the desired outcomes and results community members want and need, like maintaining fast response times for police, fire and medical emergency. I will prioritize funding to ensure that the police and fire department are fully staffed and that our first responders have the modern equipment they need; that capital improvements to the police department headquarters are prioritized, and I will follow through to complete public safety strategies identified in the Eastside Neighborhood Transportation Plan. I will also work for better enforcement of existing traffic laws that protect pedestrian safety on the Eastside, particularly around our schools, and better lighting around intersections. I will work together with the Pro-Youth Movement to expand opportunities for our young people, including recreational programs, internships and job training programs. |
