Candidate for
Council Member; City of Carson

Joseph Gordon was born in Meridian, MS, one of ten children. It was in this environment he learned the value of honesty and integrity. Your word was your bond and deals were done with just a handshake. If you gave your word to someone, you honored it, regardless of the cost. These values have guided his life.

Gordon joined the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program in the eleventh grade and, during college; he joined the reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). This was one of the most rewarding experiences of his life, he discovered something the he loved and could do well. Gordon received a commission as an army second lieutenant and entered the United States Army in 1989, upon graduation from the University of Southern Mississippi. His further academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration degree from Regis University.

Gordon is a homeowner and has lived in Carson for over 20 years; where he and his wife raised their family. The Gordon family includes a son and three daughters. He is involved in his community; he previously served on the Carson Parks and Recreation Commission, and currently serves on the Carson Planning Commission. As a Planning Commission, he is responsible for recommending broad development policy to the City Council and acts as the advisory body to the City Council on applications for subdivision of land, discretionary development application (i.e. Conditional Use Permit, Development Plan, Review Permit, etc), and variance from zoning regulations.

Gordon has held management positions in various companies and industries; he currently works for DHL, as the West Region, Regional Human Resources Manager. In his spare time, he loves to cook and is an avid photographer.
