1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?
Make sure all fiscal choices go towards creating jobs and fixing the economy. The first thing I want to propose in office is cutting the LLC tax from $800 to $10 annually, because 80% of all jobs are created by small businesses. I further want fiscal choices to align with infrastructure improvement and construction for roads, highways, bridges, water systems, sewage systems, and port improvements. For education I want local control, and not common core. I believe in monies being allocated by the districts, and not from Sacramento.2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?
I want more construction for dams, reservoirs, canals and upgraded water systems. I'd further want to explore as Victor Davis Hansen has written in an article entitled, "Water Wars," the waters of the Sierra Nevada on the eastern and western parts of the Sierra's being put back to farmers and land owners use. Since water has been diverted back to what has been referred to as its natural use it has hurt the Central Valley, yet the Hech Hechey dam that supplies 80% of San Francisco has not been diverted or put under the regulatory pressures others in the state have experience, and I believe that is wrong.3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?
More local control, and again not common core. I'd want to further address the issue of parental involvement, and look for solutions and improvements that allows greater parental participation and decision-making. I believe parents are the key to student motivation, achievement, and ultimately graduation. Further I want to introduce a bill that has all California students learning computer coding beginning in elementary school through high school graduation. This way our children come out with a skill to take with them to college or the workforce.4. What other major issues do you think the Legislature must address? What are your own priorities?
If the Legislature doesn't address jobs, families, companies and individuals leaving the state it will continue being tougher and tougher for middle-class families and small business owners. Whether it is cutting the LLC tax, involving all California residents paying something into the tax system, or making education locally controlled the Legislature has to address why jobs are fleeing California. That is the greatest priority is why companies such as Tesla, Nestle, and Toyota have left the state. Thank you for your time.
