1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?

Answer from Rene Pineda:
All new projects must be funded by existing sources of revenues. No tax increases or new taxes will be introduced.

2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?

Answer from Rene Pineda:
I support Proposition 1 - Water Bond. Funding for Water Quality, Supply, Treatment, and Storage Projects.

3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?

Answer from Rene Pineda:
Each member of the legislature must consult with the local school boards and parents and develop a comprehensive plan and strategy on raising standards.

4. What other major issues do you think the Legislature must address? What are your own priorities?
|
Answer from Rene Pineda:
Lower gas prices. The state government must enact laws to become energy independent and tap the energy resources which we already have. We need to start drilling oil and create new refineries.
