Political Philosophy for Bill Carle
Candidate for |
I am running because I still believe I have the capacity to be of service to our Board and our community. We have been through some of the most difficult times for our schools in the 34 or so years my family and I have lived in Santa Rosa. We have weathered the budget storm and are operating under a new state funding formula that we are all trying to interpret. We adopted a new strategic plan with unprecedented staff and community input. But we have significant and hard work ahead. This calls for leadership that is committed, experienced and willing to make the tough decisions. A member of the Board must be willing to spend significant time reading and understanding material on a myriad of issues, critically analyzing agenda items and staff produced reports. You must stay current on state and federal educational issues and be willing to advocate for our local schools in any setting. You must approach all subjects with an open mind and a patient ear to community input, including a willingness to change your own opinion based on good evidence. You must employ all this and more, but with an overriding understanding that everything you do must advance the cause of providing the best education possible for all our students. I believe I understand this well and have the requisite skills and experience. I am running because I think I can still make a difference for the benefit of our children |
