Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Grover Beach

Hello, I'm Mariam Shah. My husband and I took a drive along Highway 1 in 2007 that changed our lives. We left Ohio in 2008, renting a house in Arroyo Grande before purchasing our Grover Beach home four years ago.

We chose this city and we believe in it. However, I see the streets so incredibly in need of repair. We need a plan to fix our roads that is not only funded, but properly planned and implemented with fiscal responsibility. Too many businesses on Grand Avenue have closed waiting for pedestrians that have not come. We must break ground on the Grover Beach Lodge and Conference Center and start bringing some money and tourism to our fair city.

I am a stay-at-home mother of two children. My husband, Asad, is a physician. I graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Spanish and American Culture, and attended the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C.I was a corporate attorney for nearly eight years, in New York City and the Midwest. I handled contract disputes, property taxation issues and worked on behalf of city governments. If selected, I have the skillset and motivation to get the job done.
