Jane Kim was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in November 2010. She represents District 6, which includes Civic Center, South of Market, Mission Bay, the Tenderloin, Treasure Island, and Yerba Buena Island. She is the Chair of the City & School District Committee and Vice-Chair of the Land Use Committee and is a member of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority. She also serves as the Chair of Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) which is currently designing and building the Transbay Terminal, a modern regional transit hub which will connect 8 Bay Area Counties and host 11 transit systems including Caltrain and the future High Speed Rail.
Prior to her election to the Board of Supervisors, she served as President of the San Francisco Board of Education. Kim's main policy priorities include land use and affordable housing production, homelessness, pedestrian safety (#VisionZero), public education, economic justice and development, and supporting capacity building for nonprofits and neighborhood organizations in her District. Prior to elected office, Kim worked as an attorney at Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and spent six years as a Community Organizer at Chinatown Community Development Center. Jane attended Stanford University where she received a dual B.A. in Political Science and Asian American Studies and received her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall.
