Classroom SizesBy Sage NaumannCandidate for Board Member; Carlsbad Unified School District; Full Term | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Sage's commitment to work to lower classroom sizes. The average classroom size in San Diego County is just under 23 students per class, while the average class size in Carlsbad Unified is an astounding 30 students per class. These sizes are unacceptable in Carlsbad Unified are unacceptable, and place the quality of our student's education at great risk. I support setting defined goals for classroom size reduction over the next five years, and adopting a resolution that lets the community of Carlsbad know that we will place classroom size reduction as our first priority in increasing our students' achievement. The State of California also offers fiscal incentives for lowering classroom sizes, making it an affordable and worthwhile effort to reduce the sizes of our classrooms and restore our quality of education. |
