STUDENT-FOCUSED & SOLUTION-ORIENTED As a high school mock trial coach and a mentor for at-risk youth, I see the challenges students face - from those who are high-achieving to those who are struggling to graduate high school. Utilizing my master's degree in public policy and law degree, I will ask the right questions, propose innovative solutions, and vote for policies on the school board that help our students succeed. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Our schools and students perform better when our community is involved. As a trustee, I will work to make the school board more inclusive and transparent so that more voices are heard. As I meet with parents, teachers, business and civic leaders, I am constantly reminded that we have a treasure of untapped resources in our community that could benefit students. I will push for increasing mentorship programs and community partnerships. I will also work with our state, county, city and local officials - many of whom have endorsed my campaign - to improve our schools. STRENGTHENING TIES WITH ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS We need to bridge the gap between the Campbell Union High School District and the school boards that represent the elementary and middle schools within our district. Students are falling through the cracks because of the lack of communication and coordination. I am proud that many elementary and middle school board members support my candidacy, because they know I am passionate about helping students succeed and will work with them to close the achievement gap. |
