I was born and raised in Massachusetts, before relocating to Oregon, where I received my Masters of Architecture. I began my work as a professional architect in San Francisco. Though I loved living in the city, after a few years I accepted an opportunity to come to Campbell as the RDA project manager for the Downtown Streetscape Project, improving the layout of downtown roads, adding sidewalks, parking, street trees, and decorative lighting. Ainsley Park and the Orchard City Green were also created under this project. A licensed California Architect, I have more than 35 years of business experience. My core skill is working with people to define the problem and identify a range of solutions with criteria for decision-making. My current focus is on residential design at my own firm. Previously, I was an Associate with a San Jose firm where my work as Project Manager covered master planning, design and construction of Community Colleges, residential high-rise towers, and design of Art Museums. Elected by my peers, I served on the Board and subsequently as President of the American Institute of Architects Santa Clara Valley Chapter. In this capacity I also served on the Board of the American Institute of Architects California Council (AIACC), the single largest such organization in the country. In the latter role, I participated in legislative meetings and spoke against applying sales tax to professional services. I served on the AIACC Long-Range Financial Planning Committee. For these services, I was named a John F. Bolles Fellow. I find Campbell a community committed to its heritage and quality of life. I began volunteering for the Historical Museum and Ainsley House Board. I expanded my connection with the community by joining the Country Woman's Club of Campbell. I chaired the successful `Campbell Save Our Library' campaign in both 2005 and 2013. In 2013 I completed my 17th year of service on the Planning Commission. I am honored to say that I was selected as the '2013 Campbell Citizen of the Year'. I have worked with the Facilities Committee of the San Jose Museum of Art and volunteered with Rebuilding Together, helping to refurbish a veteran's home. Over several years, I volunteered with S4CA in San Jose's Yerba Buena High School, working with students interested in architecture and engineering. Our project was to design a playhouse structure for the JW House at Kaiser Santa Clara. In 2008, I was celebrated by the Silicon Valley Business Journal as a "Woman of Influence in Santa Clara Valley." |
