I have served on the Campbell Union School Board for ten years. During that time we successfully weathered the fiscal crisis via strong leadership and a collaborative relationship with our staff. CUSD was able to keep small classes, full-day kindergarten and summer school, all while remaining fiscally sound and continuing our students' growth both academically and emotionally. I was Board president when we went through the hiring process for our current superintendent, Dr. Eric Andrew - that might be my most important accomplishment. During my tenure on the CUSD Board, I have served on all the various district committees, and currently serve on the STEAM, Special Programs and Policy subcommittees. I am our District's representative to the Santa Clara County School Board Association (SCCSBA), and am doing a second term as that organization's Treasurer. I was elected by the 31 district boards in our County to serve as a Delegate from Region 20 to the California School Board Association, and have been serving our region at the state level for almost 6 years. My three children's academic experiences range from GATE to Special Education. I have been a parent at 4 of our 9 elementary schools and 2 of our 3 middle schools. This provides me with a broad perspective of our students, our schools, and our programs as a member of the Board. Last April I was recognized by the City of Campbell as a 2013 Woman of Distinction for my contributions in demonstrating leadership in education throughout the City of Campbell. That was my second City of Campbell recognition; I have also been honored by Campbell's Parks and Recreation Department for my volunteer service. Prior to joining the Board, I served on district-wide committees for the 2002 Measure H Bond Campaign, the 2003 Measure B Parcel Tax Campaign, and the 2003 School Consolidation Task Force. I was appointed to the Measure H Citizen's Bond Oversight committee when Campbell voters passed that measure and served as a parent representative from 2002 until 2004, when I joined the School Board. I have also been an active member in the various PTAs and Booster clubs associated with my children's schools and activities. Finally, I serve as a Committee Chair for the 100W Charitable Foundation. This collective giving organization makes yearly grants to Santa Clara and San Mateo county 501Cs in three focus areas: Women & Children; Education; and Health & Wellness. I am the product of California public education - starting in kindergarten at Santa Margarita Elementary in Terra Linda and finishing with a Master's degree in from UC Berkeley. I have worked as a Software Engineer in Silicon Valley for 28 years - starting with Hewlett Packard in 1986 and currently with Oracle. I have lived in California my entire life and in Campbell for the last 22 years. |
