I was elected to the Folsom City Council in November 2002. I served as mayor in 2006, 2007 and 2011, and as vice mayor in 2005 and 2010. I am a 26-year resident of Folsom, My list of civic associations and accomplishments include serving as a Folsom Planning Commissioner, member of the Folsom Schools Bond Oversight Committee, Treasurer of the Folsom Public Library Foundation and Chair of the successful 2002 Measure C School Bond Campaign. In addition, my brother Vince and I currently own and operate the Susie's Country Oaks Café Restaurants in Roseville and Granite Bay. I was born and raised in the Toledo, Ohio area, and moved to Oregon as a young collegian to attend Oregon State University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology in 1983. I began working for the National Weather Service and was subsequently assigned to duty in the Sacramento area. I now work for a branch of the National Weather Service called the California-Nevada River Forecast Center as a senior hydrologist. My duties include flood and water supply forecasting along with computer system development and maintenance. I married long-time Folsom resident Kathy (Engelhart) Morin in 1987 and moved to Folsom in 1988. Kathy and I have two grown sons, one a 2010 Vista del Lago High graduate and the other a 2013 Folsom High graduate. While raising our sons, we enjoyed devoting many hours to dedicated local youth organizations including Folsom Little League baseball, the Folsom Sea Otters swim team, the Vista Del Lago High School swim and music programs, the Folsom High School track, cross country and music programs and Folsom Boy Scout Troop 237. With a commitment to open, accessible government, my priorities as a City Council member include maintaining vibrant economic development through a strong partnership between the City and the Folsom Chamber of Commerce; developing mutually beneficial joint use opportunities with the Folsom Cordova Unified School District; public safety; parks and recreation; and high maintenance standards for our City infrastructure. Representing Folsom regionally, I have served for many years as a board member for the Folsom + El Dorado Joint Powers Authority, the Sacramento Regional Transit District, the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission and the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District.
