Candidate for
Board Member; Nuview Union School District

Nuevo is my hometown and my entire professional career has been dedicated to children. I have served as a classroom instructional aid, teacher, principal, author, professor of education, and a father.

When I ran for Board in 2010, Nuview was facing an unprecedented financial crises and had a need for leaders who were committed to providing our children with an outstanding education through fiscal responsibility and making student success the priority in every decision made. During these trying times, I worked with my colleagues to hire an exemplary superintendent, successfully applied for a literacy grant, reduced class sizes, hired more teachers, increased the classroom supply budget and developed public-private partnerships with companies like Chevron to help our district "go green" and bring an award winning STEM Lab to our district.

My experience as a teacher has helped me to understand the demands of the classroom. My experience as a principal has taught me to manage budgets, personnel and the diverse needs of children. My experience as a college professor has kept me informed regarding the latest trends in education. Finally, my commitment to our children has honored the trust that you have placed in me as a trustee.
