I support our City's local and regional efforts to bring universities to Roseville and South Placer. It's not only going to help our families pay for higher education and keep them together, but also attract jobs to our community. Universities in and of themselves are economic drivers. They'll attract high paying and stable jobs to Roseville and drive more business, keeping more tax dollars in our community. I'm delighted with the progress on Roseville's University Center. With a planned opening this fall at the former Roseville Hospital site, Sierra College, Sacramento State, Brandman University and University of the Pacific will offer a unique new affordable university for selected degree programs. I am excited about the opportunities for them to grow into new universities as their enrollment expands. Clarkson University has also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sierra College to bring this new university program to South Placer. In addition, plans are underway for a Sac State satellite and a Warwick University in South Placer. As your Council member, I will work hard to see these opportunities come to fruition, through regional cooperation and sound urban planning.
