Full Biography for Julann L. Brown
Candidate for |

|
Julann Brown, a finance and operations business consultant, is active in local education issues and has served for more than a dozen years in key leadership positions that support local schools, including a two-year stint as president of the Auburn Education Foundation. She also served several years on the AUSD Budget Committee, 21st Century Schools Committee, and as president and treasurer of parent-teacher organizations at three schools. "I am running for the Auburn Union School District Board of Trustees because I believe strong schools are the foundation of our strong community," said Brown. "Successful high school and college students begin with successful elementary and middle schools. Auburn Union's teachers, staff and administrators provide a solid foundation for future success. Still, we must support our local schools to ensure a powerful curriculum that teaches our children to be creative thinkers, problem solvers, and innovators so they can be competitive in the 21st century marketplace." Brown would like to see the district build more community partnerships between the elementary and middle schools and local business and service organizations. She also wants to work with community and district leaders to position our schools to attract people to the Auburn community and foster economic growth. "For the past 14 years as I have raised two sons in our community, I have made active involvement in our schools my number-one priority," Brown said. "I look forward to using my business background and experience with our schools to bring vision and energy to the AUSD board, work to promote strong schools, and advocate for sensible fiscal planning to position Auburn Union School District for ongoing success." Brown, a graduate in political science from University of California, Santa Barbara, has already secured endorsements from several local education leaders, including: Ken Tokutomi, Placer County Office of Education Board member; Michele Schuetz, retired AUSD Superintendent and longtime Auburn educator; former AUSD Board of Trustees members Sandra Amara; Jim Holmes (current Placer County Supervisor); Shana Fain McDonald; and Ken Nittler. |
