As the oldest of 9 children, I was lucky to be able to attend college and received my BA in Commercial Art at Anna Maria College in Paxton Massachusetts in 1974. Before moving to California I worked as an assistant art director for a toy and plastics company. My husband David and I have been married for more than 36 years and have lived in Huntington Beach since 1978. We own and operate a wireless broadband business in Huntington Beach and own a home in the downtown Lake Park area. Our 3 children attended Smith Elementary, Dwyer Middle School and Huntington Beach High School and I volunteered in the elementary and high school districts for over 20 years, starting as a "room mom" and Meet the Masters instructor. Progressively, I was elected PTA president of all three schools plus Huntington Union Council PTA and served a term as 4th District PTA Secretary.
In 2004 I was appointed to the ultimately successful Measure C bond committee for the high school district. Prior to that I participated in the elementary school district's bond campaign, working hard to acquire much needed funding to update our local school campuses. For several years I was a substitute teacher for HBCSD while also teaching an art class in the high school district's adult education program. In 2005, I was appointed by the HBCSD Governing Board as a member of their Asset Management and 7/11 Committees. In 2006 I was elected to the HBCSD Governing Board.
