Candidate for
Council Member; City of Fountain Valley

My plans for Fountain Valley economic growth and business development:

• No new taxes or fees.

• No unnecessary regulations.

• No toll lanes on the 405 Freeway. Keep our freeways FREE. General purpose lanes..."yes"!

• Attract and retain businesses, as Fountain Valley has a great deal to offer.

• Attract families to live here, perhaps with incentives highlighting the real quality of education that we provide.

• Easily reach a staff person by telephone during normal business hours.

• Review and rework the conditional use permit and permit fees for a friendlier, streamlined experience with an initial lower cost application fee to start.

• Revisit signage procedures.

• Review and fine-tune home remodeling procedures and permit fees for a more comprehensible and pleasurable experience.

• Educate our residents and businesses about City Hall services to include an updated, user-friendly City website.

• Offer residents and businesses more energy and money saving programs.

• For our Senior Center to be a "Fountain Valley Senior Connect", with even more community information and resources available.

• Housing/Roommate listings for those who have rooms to rent and/or need a room.

• Job postings for those who have job openings and/or job seeking a position.

• Lunch served 5 days Monday through Friday.

• Afternoon Movies

• A PREPAID DISCOUNT ACTIVITIES CARD, Seniors love to save!

• Cooking demonstrations.

• The $300 Paramedic fee is public safety related and should already be included as a part of the property taxes we pay. When our Fire Department sends a paramedic out on a call, and the person needs to be transported to a healthcare facility, our City will bill $300 which is not covered by most insurance companies.

• The new Joint Powers Authority (JPA) which was voted and approved on at the August 19th City Council Meeting: I would request that Fountain Valley residents vote on any City expenditures exceeding $200,000.00 instead of City Council having carte blanche. It does not reflect well on a City Council's continued goal of transparency.

• The Rainbow Environmental Disposal Contract: We need to obtain and review bids from other companies before a decision can be made on the contract renewing or contracting to a new company.

• City Hall is closed on alternating Fridays. Many residents and businesses maintain this does not serve them well. This is just what I hear. I am willing to look into this.

• My own opinion is to not accept City Council campaign contributions from City vendors. I believe this is conflict of interest that does not serve well a City's transparency. Our Council Members are to be impartial.
