Candidate Statement

Villa Park's demographics have changed over the last 30 years and now, more than ever, we need to also consider how we can support those of our long-time senior residents, especially those with special needs. Additionally, our community faces increasing challenges from beyond city boundaries - traffic, special districts, development, aircraft noise. As your Councilman, I will listen to your concerns and will work to develop a business plan for our future that addresses those challenges and concerns. I will also work with our established community groups to address the needs of our senior residents and to maintain the community we enjoy.

In addition to my Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Cal State Fullerton, my career in public works has provided broad experience and insight in how government works and in the delivery and management of the infrastructure needed to maintain and enhance our community.

I have a long history of community and professional involvement.

• Founded the California Stormwater Quality Association to help local government, industry and development interests to implement cost-effective programs to comply with unfunded federal and state mandates. Today this has grown into a statewide organization with nationwide recognition.

• Developed and championed the Upper Newport Bay Restoration Project - recognized as a Project of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

• Past President of the Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Association and Chair of the Water Resources Committee.

• Active in Scouting for many years, beginning as a Cub Scout Den leader.

• Participated in the YMCA Indian Princesses program for nine years with my daughters, including a year as tribal chief.

• Former VPLL coach and member of the VPHS Baseball Boosters Board of Directors.
