Liza Crosse has a long list of accomplishments as a MMWD Board MemberACCOMPLISHMENTS Liza Crosse has a long list of accomplishments as a MMWD Board Member District/Board Accomplishments during Liza's Service on the Board: Held firm in the face of threat of disastrous drought in January, 2014, without implementing mandatory rationing and other impactful measures. Instead implemented voluntary rationing at 25% and initiated diverse educational and conservation programs for the public. MMWD led and formalized the formation of the Mount Tamalpais Lands Collaborative, a philanthropic coalition of the organizations which own land on the Mountain, including National, State and County Parks, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. The goal is to support and fund restoration projects on Mount Tam. Completed the District's first ever Strategic Plan. Approved and sustained a balanced budget at a time of widely fluctuating revenues, resulting from extreme weather conditions. Avoided rate increases. Approved a new bargaining agreement with labor union. Reduced pension formulas consistent with the Public Employee Pension Reform Act (PEPRA) and reduced District's share of employee contribution, to be 0% in 2015. Improved online customer service, including online bill paying and website. Initiated several studies and projects to expand and fund recycled water production, notably the Peacock Gap Recycled Wastewater Project. Approved Cost of Service Study and Long Range Financial Forecast Study. Joined other water districts in the Bay Area Regional Reliability Partnership, to work together to ensure long-term water supply. Approved funding for highly successful conservation rebate program and High Efficiency Toilet installation program in multi-unit buildings. Approved WaterSmart pilot program, an online service which allows customers to better understand and manage their water use. Approved renewed intertie agreement with North Marin Water District for delivery of Sonoma County Water Agency (SCWA) water. Approved unique cooperative agreement with North Marin Water District to "bank" water in Stafford Lake Reservoir, ensuring delivery of maximum possible SCWA water supply. Led the collaboration of Bay Area water agencies to complete the San Francisco Bay Area Integrated Regional Water Management Plan. Sustained healthy and ongoing programs to replace aging infrastructure and pipelines, such as the Soulajule pump replacement project, the redwood tank replacement program, the fireflow pipeline replacement program and the leak detection/repair program. Successfully negotiated multiple leases with for use of District property, resulting in increased revenues for the District and thereby reducing rate payer costs. Carried out innumerable education and outreach programs, ranging from hundreds of customer assistance assessments, to classroom and field programs which reached nearly 20,000 school children. Carried out a diverse and robust volunteer program on the watershed, with over 1,400 volunteers contributing over 8,000 hours of labor.
