Member, City Council; City of Monterey

Water supply:

I support the Mayors' Joint Powers Authority efforts to find new water sources. I strongly support conservation, but we have practically reached our limit on reducing water use. A combination of recycling and desalination can sustain our lifestyle and economy.

Infrastructure:

I strongly support the one-cent special sales tax measure for the City of Monterey. Without this tax, the city's streets, sidewalks and storm drains will continue to deteriorate. I believe the four-year sunset may be too short a term. I would have supported a longer special tax.

Good Management of City Resources:

A top down review of City Hall services and staffing can be done in concert with the enhanced revenues, if the tax measure passes, so that business development processing and residential services can be improved.
