MAINTAIN STABLE AND EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP AT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE FOR ANOTHER FOUR YEARSBy Scott MillerCandidate for Sheriff/Coroner; County of Monterey | |

The demands of the Sheriff's office are complex and require seasoned leadership to deal with the many public safety issues we face.Things are going well at the Monterey County Sheriff's office these days. Deputies recently voted on their preferred candidate for Sheriff and rewarded me with the most votes by a comfortable margin. Three plus years into my first term as Sheriff, I took this as a sign that together we are headed in the right direction, but difficult and complex work remains to be done. I am running for a second term as Sheriff to offer Monterey County voters the stability and continuity of an experienced, qualified law enforcement executive. If re-elected I'll continue to provide the consistent, ethical, results-oriented leadership our deputies and our residents deserve. We're working as partners again with neighborhoods and community groups. Forty new deputies have been hired in the past fifteen months as economic times have improved. We obtained $89 million to construct a critically needed jail expansion. Training for deputies has doubled. Morale is on the rise. I've brought a new perspective as to how business gets done in the Sheriff's Office. With the support of the voters of Monterey County, I'll continue making decisions based on over thirty-five years of public service and with only one goal in mind: helping the Monterey County Sheriff's Office deliver the highest quality law enforcement services possible to the community. I'd appreciate your vote on June 3rd. Scott Miller, Monterey County Sheriff/Coroner |
