Mathematics from High School to Community College: Preparation, Articulation, and College Un-readiness
Viewed through the lens of mathematics, this study focuses on the segment of the educational pipeline from high school to community college, analyzing the effectiveness of different high school mathematics pathways in preparing students for college-level mathematics. In scrutinizing the actual experiences of a diverse group of students, I was looking to find reliable and well-traveled routes to college-readiness. Instead, I stumbled upon significant and useful predictors of college un-readiness.

Policy Brief published by Policy Analysis for California Education, Stanford, CA. The adoption and implementation of the Common Core State Standards and Smarter Balanced assessments in mathematics are intended to provide all students in California with the knowledge and skills required to transition from high school to college-level coursework. This implementation will take time.
