Top Priorities if Elected |
- Increase water conservation, recycling, gray-water, and storm water retention to adapt to prolonged droughts and climate change.
- Fix our leaky pipes and accelerate investment in pipeline replacement, to prevent main failures, and to protect us in fires and earthquakes.
- Protect our environment by protecting our water source the Mokelumne, and opposing new water diversions like the Delta Tunnels.

- Replacing our Aging Infrastructure
-
EBMUD has more than 4,000 miles of pipe, many of them one hundred years old. We're experiencing small and large main breaks
with increasing frequency because we've been under-investing in the replacement of our infrastructure. Only 10 miles of pipe are getting replaced every year and we are losing a year's worth of water every ten years as a result. We must do better.
