Ballot Statement

I have experience working with families from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds and will bring a representation that is needed on the School Board. There must be Leadership that reflects the population of students served in Antioch Unified School District so families will feel respected and welcomed. Children need to know that they can achieve success in life by seeing the success role modeled.

We need to reach our children at a younger age to develop their interests that lead to career pathways. We can do this with more hands-on experiences outside the classroom, mentoring, and apprenticeships. A career identity can be nurtured and formed even before high school and carried through college. Children who have a passion or idea about their future stay in school longer and achieve more.

I want to give our children more opportunities to link school to future careers by working with parents, teachers, organizations, community colleges and local businesses to provide experiences linked to career pathways.

I will focus on improving educational outcomes for ALL students with real world experiences that relate to strong careers and employment.

I respectfully ask for your vote on November 4, 2014!
