What the City Can Do to Improve Richmond's Schools
We know that good schools are the key to community development, to creating individual, family and community health and prosperity. There is a direct link between educational outcomes and increasing employment opportunities, reducing crime, and building a better Richmond.

We also know that the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) has ultimate responsibility for the schools, but we believe the City for Richmond has an important part to play.

Progressive Development for Richmond and its Businesses
Richmond attracts and keeps new businesses. Lawrence Berkeley National Labs is not the only new venture choosing us. For the past 10 years, Richmond actively promoted the city and, in fact, welcomed a diverse set of business entrepreneurs, employees and consumers. Still, we are poised to grow. Richmond is better positioned to support a diverse business economy now, rather than only one domineering giant, than at any time in our past.
Saving Doctors Medical Center
Having a real hospital in our community is not a utopian fantasy. On the contrary, every community needs a hospital, just as it needs parks, libraries, fire and police forces, and roads. An effective emergency room needs an operating room, intensive care units, and heart and stroke care. This becomes out of reach especially for low income families when the trip to the hospital is 30 miles or more without decent public transportation.
