For more than 20 years before being elected to the school board, Denise had been a voice for educational excellence and fiscal responsibility in our district. She has deep roots in the community and a strong commitment to our children and schools. Denise brings experience as both a teacher and classified staff member. She was president of the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs and the Thirty-Second District PTA (serving all of Contra Costa County). Denise currently serves as a Communications Commissioner on the California State PTA. She also serves on the California State PTA Legislation Committee and Legislative Action Committee. She is the president of the Contra Costa County School Boards Association. Denise has served on numerous SRVUSD committees including the leadership team for the successful Reading & Writing Project and Homework Policy Revision. Because of her vast and varied experiences, Denise has a unique understanding of the needs of our students, staff, and parents from both a local and statewide perspective. She has invested years into her work in education and has the relationships and the skills needed to bring everyone together. Denise has both a historic and current perspective on public education. She attended California public schools from elementary school through the University of California. She is the daughter of two public school educators. Three of her four sons attended and graduated from San Ramon Valley Unified School District schools and her youngest is still enrolled. Denise is a trained teacher. She lives with her husband and two of their four sons at her home in Danville. She believes that despite our ongoing challenges in education, we must come together as a community to maintain academic excellence and ensure that all of our children have access to a high quality public education. Denise is pleased and excited to continue to be part of the decision-making team that will guide our school district into the future of education. |
