Financial ResponsibilityBy Reanette FillmerCandidate for Council Member; City of Chico | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Like many Chico residents, I am deeply concerned about our city's financial situation. Despite warnings from many concerned residents, some of our elected representatives depleted the city's financial reserves and passed smoke and mirror budgets designed to cover up the city's fiscal condition so that excessive spending could continue. The financial mismanagement by city leaders has nearly bankrupt Chico and the public trust in our local government is broken. As a member of the Chico City Council, I will vote to prioritize funding for essential services and reject proposals that will put Chico further in debt. In addition to my work in the private sector, I also have extensive experience working with local government agencies that are struggling to meet community needs. I've spent years working with council members and staff to find efficiencies in government and develop strategic plans that maximize taxpayer dollars in order to prevent reductions to public services. On the council, I will put this experience to work to create a more responsible city government. |
