Candidate for
Council Member; City of Livermore

Bob Woerner is a 38 year resident of Livermore and was appointed to the City Council in January of 2012. As a Councilmember, Bob represents the City of Livermore on intergovernmental agencies including the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority and as an alternate on Stopwaste.org and the Downtown Subcommittee. Prior to his appointment to the City Council, Bob served on the Planning Commission.

Over the course of his career, Bob has worked in the banking, telecommunications, software, business consulting and energy utility industries in a variety of management positions. He has also been a research scientist.

Bob is currently a Senior Director in Electric Operations at PG&E, responsible for streamlining processes by engaging employees to pragmatically simplify operations. His main focus is improving the interconnection process for solar and other distributed generation projects. Bob joined PG&E Corporation in 2006 to manage IT for the holding company.

Other IT related jobs include: product development for the strategic enterprise application suite as a Business Development VP at Oracle; interim IT Director at Advanced Fibre Communications; and managing a large financial data warehouse project as an Executive Director at Pacific Bell. He has also served as an expert witness in software purchase disputes.

Bob also has an extensive background in strategy and finance. As a partner in Financial Strategies Group, a business consulting firm, Bob participated in numerous financial planning, business development and product development engagements for large firms as well as startups. His corporate finance and strategy experience includes positions at Wells Fargo Leasing and at Pacific Telesis Group and its wireless and landline subsidiaries.

Prior to entering the business world, Bob had a successful career as a physicist, having worked at MIT, Bell Labs and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He did laser physics research and managed complex projects in laser fusion and laser isotope separation. He was awarded two patents and has published several scientific papers.

Bob has two adult sons Phil and Steve who were both educated in the Livermore School System and had the benefit of the great quality of life offered by the City as they grew up. Bob is married to Nova Starling, a local artist.

Bob has an MBA in Finance from UC Berkeley and BS, MS and PhD degrees in Physics from MIT. He also was a Captain in the US Air Force Reserve.
