Political Philosophy for Peter Oshinski
Candidate for |

When I started at Hayward I began to realize that there is such disparity between districts with low free and reduced populations such as San Ramon and districts with high free and reduced populations such as Hayward and San Leandro. The students in a low free and reduced population have more current facilities, technology and emphasis on academics. I realized that I have a lot to offer and I need to bridge this gap in my own community. That's when I decided to run for the Board of Education. I had gone back to college over 20 years ago and was single on my own and had to work full time and go to school so it took me 8 years to finish. It was a huge struggle for me with many sacrifices and it was at that time that I decided to make life easier for others so that they wouldn't have to struggle as I did. When the opportunity to run for this seat opened, I jumped in. I feel that education can improve and transform people's lives as it did for me. I want to see our kids succeed as adults I will embrace the community and families and encourage participation I want to make San Leandro School District the best it can be |
