I have proven my Leadership skills and abilities to understand and address the challenges of the Hayward Unified School DistrictI have proven my leadership skills and abilities to understand and address the challenges of the Hayward Unified School District. As a member of the HUSD School Board I will continue to insure that we have qualified teachers and administrators that are committed to the students of Hayward. I will continue to insist on full public disclosure as to how programs are funded and how grants are used. As HUSD moves forward with Common Core, LCFF, and LCAP, I would like to continue to be an active part of moving the District towards increased excellence and stability to prepare, motivate, and challenge our students. HUSD as progressed during my four-year tenure on the Board, but we still have a lot more work to do as a school district and as board members, community members, parents, and students. Education is a "living thing", constantly changing, progressing, and adapting to the needs of our students in an ever changing world; which is why a stable Superintendent and Administration at district level is so important. I feel "Administration" and "certificated" staff need to be stable so that education can continue to "evolve" and "progress". I know students in HUSD can and do succeed. I want Hayward residents to be informed of all the good things that happen in HUSD and not just the negative. I want all residents of Hayward, not just parents and students to be proud of the Hayward Unified School District. My commitment to Education & my Community are reflected in my endorsements: -The Teachers have endorsed me through: HEA- Hayward Education Association for my years of involvement and support... -The Hayward Chamber of Commerce has endorsed me for my long-term civic involvement -The Alameda Labor Council, AFL-CIO --and SEIU Local 1021 have endorsed me for my support of equity in the workplace.. -The Alameda County Demos have endorsed me for all of the above... |
