This information is provided by the candidate
As a Superior Court Commissioner I am bound by the Code of Judicial Ethics, in particular Canon 5. Under that Canon, candidates cannot make political statements that commit the candidate with respect to cases, controversies, or issues that could come before the court.
Canon 5 is consistent with the views of the Framers of the Constitution who wanted the judiciary to be independent and free from political influence. This means that judges must be free to decide cases fairly and impartially relying only on the facts and the law. A judge's job is to be non-partisan and unbiased. Judicial independence guarantees justice for all. The Framers charged the executive and legislative branches of government with the duty to create laws. The responsibility of the judiciary is to apply the law.
