Political Philosophy for John McGinnis
Candidate for |
When I was first elected four years ago, one of my goals was to bring educational professionalism, not politics, to my seat on the Long Beach Unified School Board. While I am a life-long Democrat, I'm proud to be a member of a board that shares that common commitment to non-partisan deliberations. In that spirit, I am not accepting any campaign contributions in seeking a second term for this office. The only debt I choose to owe is to students I've served for over forty years as a teacher, administrator, parent and school board president. The educational and community leaders who endorse me reflect the racial, ethnic, age, gender, sexual orientation, as well as the political diversity that define the rich character of Long Beach. Regardless of our differences we share a common commitment to our children and their future. I will continue the work I began four years ago - building bridges across our community in a collaborative, transparent and professional manner, and building a better future for our kids. |
