Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Westside Union School District

My husband and I moved to the Antelope Valley in 1977. He taught at AV College for 36 years and I have been a full time and substitute teacher in our local school districts for 12 years. I have been actively serving our local Westside community since our oldest daughter entered kindergarten at Rancho Vista School in 1996, serving as a Site Council representative many terms in Westside and at Quartz Hill High School, serving as a PTA President and Treasurer, serving as WAVE Treasurer for 7 years, recipient of PTA's Honorary Service Award and Westside Union School District's Golden Apple Award for volunteer service, and serving on the Westside Union School District's Board of Trustees since 2005. Our three daughters are Westside graduates and Quartz Hill High School graduates: one is a UCLA School of Nursing graduate, one is about to graduate as a Presidential Scholar from CSULB, and one is entering UCLA School of Nursing-all three educated in California's public schools.

As an active parent, volunteer, and educator in the Westside Union School District for 17 years, I hope to continue to invest my time in the education of our children, ignite the passion in all educators, and immerse myself in the business of the district.

I will strive to create a climate for excellence in our school district by continuing to be fiscally responsible, by doing more with less money from the State, by exploring and supporting entrepreneurial opportunities for our District, by employing the best and brightest staff, by being an educational leader, and by promoting public education in California.
