I grew up in Philadelphia and attended Philadelphia public schools, graduating from George Washington High School in 1977. After graduation, I worked as a graphic designer for 11 years, at which time I made a significant life decision to abandon that career to become an attorney. Having been in the working world since the week of my high school graduation, this decision was a seven year plan, as I had not yet attended college. I attended West Virginia University in 1989, graduating in 1992, Summa Cum Laude, with a Political Science degree. I then chose the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, from which I graduated in 1995, for my legal training. I began practice in Greene County, focusing primarily in Family Relations and Criminal Defense work. After a short time in practice, my wife informed me that we had a child on the way. We both thought it important that one of us be at home with the children and we determined that the public could do with one less lawyer rather than one less doctor, and so I became a stay-at-home dad. Our two boys, Scott, age 15 and Jackson, age 14 are students at NAI and Ingomar Middle School respectively. They are both successful academically and are active in extra-curricular activities. Being that they are now in 8th and 9th grade, I have the time, the dedication and the education to turn my attention to the school district more broadly.
