We have already faced unprecedented budget cuts that have decimated staff and increased class sizes. We will undoubtedly be facing more cuts. Maintaining the status quo is not an option. We must look for new and innovative ways to approach learning, ways that will blend traditional but important skills with innovative technology tools to prepare our students for life in the 21st century. We must change the way we do schools and that requires collaboration between all the stakeholders-board members, administration, teachers, staff, parents, students and the community. As a long time school and community volunteer, veteran school board member, mother of three college graduates who attended PUSD schools K-12,and grandmother of future PUSD students, I possess the knowledge, perspective and necessary experience to ensure our students are prepared for their future in a constantly evolving global society.
