Candidate for
Board Member; San Marcos Unified School District

Janet was appointed to the Board of Education for the San Marcos Unified School District in March, 2011. Janet has served on various special district committees, including the committee to pass Proposition K, the Parent Action Committee (PAC), and the Steering Committee for the Blueprint for High School Graduation.

Prior to being appointed to the Board, Janet was an experienced parent leader in our local community, serving in a variety of capacities at her children's schools and at the district level. She and her husband, Kevin have two children; James (13) is an 8th grader and Robert (11) is a 6th grader, both at San Elijo Middle School. As PTO President of Carrillo Elementary, she led a team of highly creative and entrepreneurial board members and oversaw the funding of various innovative programs. Janet has also served on various special committees, including the committee to pass Proposition K, the Parent Action Committee (PAC), the Bailey Family Foundation's scholarship committee, and the Steering Committee for the Blueprint for High School Graduation. Janet continues to volunteer at a local elementary school.

Janet is a product of California public schools, which set her path to college, and into a successful career, and her experience demonstrates how a public education opens doors to greater opportunities. Janet McClean holds a BS degree from San Diego State University and has been serving San Diego businesses and non-profits as a Certified Public Accountant for over 20 years. She has her own business that offers financial and tax consulting to clients mostly in the San Diego area. She is a member of the California Society of CPA's and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has held her CPA license in the State of California since 1993.
