Occupation: Retired Teacher
Age: 64
Education and Qualifications:
In 2009, I retired from the CUHSD after 38 rewarding years teaching science and English, serving as a Mentor Teacher and volunteering, which I continue to do. I've been an Educator of the Year for both the District and The California League of High Schools Region V. I hold five SJSU Dorothy Wright Awards for Excellence in Education, and was a Fulbright MFS Recipient which allowed me to spend time exchanging ideas about "best practices" with my Japanese peers. I believe my nearly forty years experience in education will serve me well as a Board member.
I pledge to be a highly accessible advocate of student success by creating opportunities for parents, teachers and the community to provide the critical context for decision-making. We must honor the trust of the community that has given so generously to improve our facilities by maintaining the fiscal health of the District. For students to receive a rigorous education that imparts the pride of real achievement, we need to monitor our programs, empower teachers with the best possible resources and methods, and update our aging equipment to make better use of technology. I devote myself to this cause and humbly ask your support.
