Occupation: Councilmember/Business owner As a councilmember, Debbie built the Library and Senior Center on-time and on-budget; voted in favor of setting aside land for a new elementary school; and helped create jobs by supporting business development. As MiIpitas' representative on the Library Authority, Debbie voted for the nonresidents' $80 fee, which the Milpitas Post said "showed creativity and wisdom". In her 2008 re-election, the Milpitas Post said Debbie "bleeds Milpitas" citing her 50 years in Milpitas and attending Milpitas' public schools. Education is important to her; she will graduate in May 2013 from SJSU with her Political Science degree. Debbie intended to leave office this term, however historic fiscal crisis' have plagued cities throughout California. Debbie and Mayor Esteves agree on many fiscal issues.
