The General Plan 2030 provides a strategic direction of how our citizens envision Mountain View to be in the future. It is important to make sure that the development areas are blended into the existing neighborhoods in a homogeneous way.
As we begin to implement the General Plan of 2030, several areas of change have been identified for additional development. These areas are the El Camino Corridor, San Antonio, North Bayshore and East Whisman. It is easy to consider partial solutions for each of these areas, but it is critical that we have a precise plan for each area to ensure we incorporate the existing developments to maintain the vitality, character and diversity of Mountain View. This is where the city's requirements to include pedestrian walkways, bicycles paths and open space within the developments is essential to achieve this goal. This type of effort often takes much longer that we want, but it will enable us to gather the detailed input that we need to make the right decisions the first time.
