Trish Dawson Candidate for Citrus Heights City Council 2012 Citrus Heights is on the right track. I will increase the momentum at City Hall by safeguarding our budget surplus for raids by the state government, increase our partnership with local businesses providing jobs and opportunity, and protect our neighborhoods from crime and drugs. I gained my understanding of our City's people and problems through extensive community service during my 26 year residency here. I participated in numerous visioning sessions, from Blueprint Studies of Auburn Boulevard and Sunrise Market Place, to the current Antelope Crossing workshops. I was a member of the Community Center Advisory Committee. Participating in weeks of discussions and research, we laid the groundwork for the current facility. As the Architectural Project Manager with Williams + Paddon Architects, that project was brought in on budget, greatly exceeded the design expectations of the client and community and is a LEED Gold Certified building. I am a graduate of Leadership Citrus Heights 2004-2005. I'm active in the Citrus Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce; a current board member, recipient of the 2007 Presidents Award for Outstanding Service, 2009 VP of Economic Development and the 2010 President of the Board of Directors. Under my leadership, we created "ELEVATE" the Chamber's active young professionals group. My husband and I have owned our home in Citrus Height for 26 years. We have raised our daughter and participated in many volunteer community activities. At my daughter school, I sat on the site council, ran many beautification projects and was active on the PTO board, President in 2003-2004. In 2001, the PTO recognized me for my "vision and tireless effort in making the Woodside campus a more inviting place for students to learn." I support Measure K, increasing our police department's efforts to control dangerous criminals being abruptly released for state prison and moving back to Citrus Heights. Measure K will fix our residential streets that urgently need repair and provide youth programs that help keep our children away from gangs and drugs. I support Measure N, the San Juan Unified School district measure that benefits every child and every school in the San Juan Unified School District. It will modernize classrooms, replace and repair aging portables and increase the energy efficiency of our schools. As a City, we've had a great start, but there is unfinished business that needs completion in order to achieve our economic, public safety and neighborhood goals. My desire is to keep the visions of our City's founders alive. With your vote, I will carry on that tradition of SERVICE, COMMITMENT and PROGRESS vital for the future of Citrus Heights for our children and grandchildren.
